BEFORE EXTRACTION

-Preoperative treatment : Follow the instructions on your prescription for prescribed medications carefully.
- Diet : Eat a hearty meal two hours beforehand to avoid any risk of discomfort. Continue to take your medication as directed.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER EXTRACTION

- Bleeding : Keep a gauze pad in place for about 30 minutes to help stop the bleeding. Repeat if necessary.
- Rinsing : Do not rinse or spit to preserve the clot at the healing site.
- Smoking : Do not smoke for at least 7 days to avoid any risk of infection (alveolitis) and promote optimal healing.
- Ice : Apply ice to the operated area for the first 3-4 hours (10 minutes of application, followed by a 30-minute break) in the case of more invasive surgery.
- Food and drink : Avoid grainy, solid foods, alcoholic beverages, carbonated drinks, and hot beverages (tea, coffee, etc.) as they may cause bleeding.
- Hygiene : Do not brush the operated area for 5 to 7 days to preserve the clot, but continue to brush the rest of your teeth and areas with a soft toothbrush.
- Anesthesia : Be careful when chewing and talking to avoid biting your tongue or the inside of your cheeks.
- Pain : Take the prescribed painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen 600 mg x 3/day for 48-72 hours, except for Aspirin.

THE FOLLOWING DAYS

- Rinsing : After 48 hours, gently rinse with an antiseptic solution or alcohol-free mouthwash containing 0.12% chlorhexidine or Iso-betadine, 2 to 3 times a day for 7 to 10 days.
- Brushing : Gently brush the rest of the mouth with a soft-bristled toothbrush from day 0 to day 7. Gradually resume very gentle mechanical brushing of the operated area from day 7 to day 21 (avoid electric toothbrushes).
- Diet : Choose soft, lukewarm foods such as purées, cold soups, or compotes. Avoid seeds, spicy, solid or overly hot foods and any physical exertion from D0 to D3. You can reintroduce solid foods on the opposite side from D3 to D7, but avoid crusts, seeds and foods that could cause trauma until D21. After D21, resume normal oral hygiene.
- Complications : In case of persistent pain, excessive bleeding, or abnormal swelling, avoid any contact and contact your dentist immediately.
- Stitches : If stitches have been applied, consult your dentist to have them removed after 7 to 10 days.

ADDITIONAL POSTOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR GINGIVECTOMY/OSTEOPLASTY OF THE ANTERIOR SECTOR

- Brushing : Do not brush the operated area for 5 days or until the stitches are removed, as recommended by your dentist!
- Local care : Apply Elugel or Hyalugel spray as directed by your dentist, usually 3 times a day. If you have a palatal plate, apply Dynexan 2% to the inner surface.
- Brushing & rinsing : Use an Inava 6.5/100 toothbrush for 3 weeks (21 days) after the stitches are removed. Use a chlorhexidine-based mouthwash (such as Eludril Pério or Paroex) 2 to 3 times a day for 30 to 60 seconds after meals and before bedtime.
- Gum graft : In the case of a gum graft, apply Dynexan 2% to the inner surface of the palatal plate in the donor area.
-Pain : Take the prescribed painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs (Ibuprofen 600 mg three times a day for 48 to 72 hours, except for aspirin.
